Lysimeters are systems for recording seepage water for quantity and substance balances depending on geological, climatic and ecological conditions. The actual evaporation is determined from the difference between precipitation rate and seepage rate. These are tanks filled with disturbed or undisturbed soil, and the soil may be vegetated or unvegetated. The leachate is collected and the leachate runoff rate is determined.
